Primary 4 visit W5
Primary 4 visted W5 and explored a variety of activities. The children used their problem solving skills to investigate brain teaser tasks. They particularly enjoyed tasting bugs such as loctus and meal worms and weaving in and out of the climbing web.

Pancake Tuesday in P4DL!
It is Pancake Tuesday today! We really enjoyed trying different types of topping on our pancakes!
P4 BBC Visit
P4 had a fantastic time visiting the BBC. We got to meet Hugo Duncan and see the studio where BBC Newsline happens every day. Our tour guide also let us use the cameras in the studio for 'The View'. We had a super time! We were very lucky to go in to see the gallery where the producer and director look at lots of television screens to decide what pictures make it on to our TV at home! We are now able to use the skills we have learned to help us with our report writing in school!
P4DL - Golden Ticket Winners!
We had a great time playing in the park on Thursday. We won the 'golden ticket' for the best lining up in the playground! Hopefully we will win lots more golden tickets and be able to have more fun times in the park!
'Ghostly' Instructional Writing in P4DL
We really enjoyed our final instructional writing session. We made ghosts to help us to write a list of instructions. We did a super job!
Spelling Activities in P4
P4 have homework each night from Monday to Thursday.
Homework is as follows:
Monday: Literacy Homework, Spellings, Reading, Number Facts
Tuesday: Numeracy Homework, Spellings, Reading, Number Facts
Wednesday: Weekly News Report, Spellings, Reading, Number Facts
Thursday: Revision Homework for Friday Challenge
Homework is written in our homework diary. This should be signed each night.
Please bring all homework into school the next day.

Welcome to Primary 4!
In Primary 4 the class teachers are Mr Lister & Mrs Tinney.
Mrs Sanders works with Mr Lister and Miss Cupples works with Mrs Tinney.
We are looking forward to a great year!
Class Times for P4
Monday-Thursday : 8.55am-3.00pm Friday : 8.55am-2.10pm (Early Finish)
Each class will have two PE sessions each week. In Term 1 we will be exploring gymnastics and dance! P4 PE will be on Monday(Gymnastics) and Friday (Dance). We would ask that a PE Kit remains in school for PE classes.
Please check your child's school bag for any notes which are sent home from school. Other notes may also be written into the homework diary.
Millennium Park Visit
Both P4 classes enjoyed our walk to Millennium Park on Wednesday. We enjoyed playing on all of the park equipment, playing rounders on the grass and our picnic lunch! We even had great weather too!
Ulster Wildlife Walk
We really enjoyed our final walk with Maureen from Ulster Wildlife and Robbie from Belfast City Council. We were learning about butterflies and got to make our own butterfly using the things we found during our walk. We also enjoyed making bird songs!

Below we have outlined the important dates for the final few weeks at school:
Tuesday 14th June - Sports Day: All children to come to school wearing PE Kit with coloured tshirt representing their house. Please see letter send home.
Thursday 16th June - Ulster Wildlife Park Walk: Note sent home, please return permission form as soon as possible.
Wednesday 22nd June - Millennium Park: P4 will be walking to Millennium Park for a picnic and games. Please ensure permission form has been returned.

Well done to Thomas who has been carrying out his own research about out 'Let it Grow' topic by taking photographs of flowers and bringing them in to show the rest of the class. We really enjoyed looking at the photographs! Super research Thomas!
Wartime Carrot Cookies
We made cookies following a recipe used during the rationing. The children were unsure of cookies made with carrots and so little sugar! They went down a treat! We have put up some more recipes for you to try at home! Enjoy
P4DL Trip to War Museum
We had a fantastic day visiting the NI World War 2 Museum in Belfast. We looked at lots of photographs of Belfast during the war and really enjoyed getting to try on the costumes worn by people during war times. It was a great day! A big thank you to Jenny for telling us lots of facts!
P4 trip to NI War Memorial
"We went to the War Memorial and we got to dress up in uniforms of some soldiers and pilots. Jenni told us a story about 'The Blitz Baby' who was born under a table on the first night of the Belfast Blitz. We saw a picture of Jack Magennis who received a Victoria Cross medal for being brave in a submarine. We got to see the different gas masks, the one for children was called Mickey Mouse Gas Mask. We saw a baby gas mask, and pictures of babies in them - it looked funny! We saw how much food you were allowed on rations - only 8 jelly babies for one week!"
P4 Wildlife Walk
P4 had a fantastic morning at Knocknagoney Park learning about the history of our local parks and about the wildlife. We really enjoyed learning and collecting different types of twigs and using these to make a bug hotel in the trees! We are going to check to see if the bugs are using their new homes! We also took some time to listen to the sounds of the park and made a park poem.
A big thank you to Connor from Ulster Wildlife and John and Robbie from Belfast City Council for taking us around the park and teaching us lots of new things!

Ulster Wildlife Walk
KNOCKNAGONEY PARK VISIT - FRIDAY 15th APRIL
A reminder that P4 will be continuing their work with the Ulster Wildlife Trust on Friday morning with our spring walk. We will be visiting Knocknagoney Park. Children should make sure they bring a warm, waterproof coat with them and wellington boots if possible.
Please make sure all permission forms are returned as soon as possible to Mr Lister and Mrs Tinney.

School finishes today for Easter holidays! We hope you all have a fantastic Easter break! School recommences on Monday 4th April at 8.55am.
Well done to Ashley in P4DL who won the Easter Ballot competition in school and this fantastic prize!
A massive congratulations to Naomi, Thomas and Mikey in Mr Lister's class! Naomi won the 'design a book cover' prize, Thomas won 'best costume' and Mikey won the 'caught' prize for March! Well Done!!
World Book Day Celebration
We had a fantastic day today celebrating World Book Day and our school fair. We all came to school in fantastic costumes and brought our favourite book with us. We were able to talk about our favourite books to our friends in class. We also wrote book reviews and designed a new cover for our favourite book. A reminder that next week is book week in Primary 4 to celebrate World Book Day. The book fair will be in school all week and P4 pupils will get the chance to purchase books on:

On Friday 11th March we are asking that children come to school dressed as their favourite book character and bring their favourite book along with them to school!

Mr Lister's Class Novel - Feb/Mar
In Mr Lister's class we are reading The Magic Finger by Roald Dahl. We have enjoyed reading a number of Roald Dahl's books this year including The Twits and Fantastic Mr Fox. We enjoy how Roald Dahl writes his stories and looking at the illustrations by Quentin Blake.
We have completed character profiles and book reviews based on The Magic Finger.

P4DL Weather Music Makers!
As part of our Weather topic, during Activity-Based Learning we used instruments and Garage Band on the iPad to compose and make weather songs and rhythms. We had to think very carefully about the best instruments to use to represent different types of weather. At the end of the session we had to perform our song to the rest of our class.
Children in Need Fundraising!
In November, P4L held 'Pudsey's Picnic' for the school. Everyone also came to school wearing something spotty and we saw lots of fantastic dress-up ideas! It was a fantastic day and raised lots of money for Children in Need to help children in Northern Ireland. Thank you to everyone for your support!
Trip to BBC Broadcasting House
We went on the bus to BBC Broadcasting House. We met Geoff who showed us around the studio. Murron was on the weather screen. We saw how the screen works and how the seasons affect the weather. Hugo Duncan brought us to his music studio and played AppleJack.
P4 trip to the City Hall and Continental Market
P4 had the opportunity to visit the City Hall and Continental Market as part of our 'All about Me ' and 'Celebrations' topics. We had a tour around the City Hall to find out what important meetings take place there and also were able to meet owners of the stalls which visit Belfast each year. We tasted various food items from around Europe, including kangaroo burgers and churros! We had a great day which was finished off with a visit to see Santa!
